The 2026 Toyota GR GT is the most important road car Toyota has built since the LFA. Unveiled at its world premiere in December 2025 and heading for production in 2027, it is a front mid-engine, hybrid V8 super-GT designed hand in hand with the GR GT3 race car. This is a first look at Toyota's new flagship: the design, the powertrain, the cabin, and the one detail every buyer needs to know before they get excited.

At its heart is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 running a hot-vee layout, paired with an electric motor in the rear transaxle for a combined 641 hp (650 PS) and 627 lb-ft. Drive goes to the rear wheels through a bespoke 8-speed automatic and a limited-slip differential. Toyota quotes a 199 mph top speed, and an aluminium space frame keeps weight to around 3,858 lb with a 45:55 balance. Inside it is stripped for purpose: a wheel that carries every control, a gold Expert dial that switches off the driver aids, a red Sport Boost button for the hybrid's full electric surge, deep bucket seats and Alcantara trim.
The catch: Toyota will not sell it to you directly. The GR GT reaches customers through select Lexus dealerships only, pricing has not been announced, and US availability is not yet confirmed. If you are cross-shopping, an Aston Martin Vanquish gives you a bigger engine and a badge with pedigree, but no factory GT3 twin, and that race-bred twin is exactly what makes the GR GT special.
