The 2026 IM LS9 is a flagship luxury SUV from IM Motors, the premium electric brand backed by SAIC Motor and Alibaba Group. Designed as a high-end six-seat SUV, the LS9 adopts an Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) system that focuses on delivering extremely long driving distances. Its standout feature is the “Stellar” super range-extender technology, allowing the vehicle to achieve a combined driving range of up to 1,508 km under the CLTC cycle. The setup uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that acts solely as a generator, supplying energy to the electric motors rather than directly powering the wheels, which helps maintain the smooth and quiet characteristics of an electric vehicle while eliminating range anxiety.
Performance is strong for a large luxury SUV. Standard versions feature a dual-motor vector all-wheel-drive system producing up to 390 kW (523 hp) and 670 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0–100 km/h in around 4.9 seconds. A more powerful Hyper variant introduced in early 2026 upgrades to a tri-motor configuration—one motor at the front and two at the rear—raising output to 550 kW (737 hp). The LS9 is built on an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, allowing rapid charging from 10% to 80% in roughly 15 minutes. Buyers can choose between two battery options: a 52 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery with a pure electric range of about 320 km, or a larger 66 kWh ternary lithium battery offering around 402 km of electric driving. With the range extender engaged, the total driving range can reach approximately 1,454 km or 1,508 km, depending on the battery version.
The LS9’s size and chassis technology position it among large luxury SUVs competing with models like the Range Rover and the BMW X7. It measures 5,279 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,806 mm in height, with a long 3,160 mm wheelbase that supports a spacious 2+2+2 six-seat layout. The Lingxi Digital Chassis 3.0 integrates advanced features such as 24-degree rear-wheel steering, giving the large SUV an impressively tight turning radius of about 4.95 meters. Ride comfort is enhanced by a closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension system with 150 mm of travel and adaptive damping. Inside, the cabin is highly technology-focused, featuring a 27.1-inch 5K integrated dual-screen cockpit, a 15.6-inch 3K passenger display, and a 21.5-inch 4K ceiling-mounted screen for rear passengers. Premium amenities include 4D mechanical massage seats, a built-in 12.3-liter refrigerator capable of temperatures from −6°C to 50°C, and a 25-speaker B&O audio system, along with the IM AD 3.0 intelligent driving platform powered by Nvidia Thor computing and LiDAR-based autonomous navigation features.
