Earlier this year, HRF shared highlights from the Freedom Fellows’ in-person training in Costa Rica, where members of the 2026 cohort gathered to exchange strategies, strengthen their leadership, and build resilience to advance their movements under pressure.Since then, the fellows have continued their journey, gathering in Brussels, Belgium, for a week of intensive mentorship, skills-building, and collaboration. This trip also served as the continuation of the Fellows’ public speaking training ahead of their delivery of Ignite Talks about their movement work at the 2026 Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF).

The Freedom Fellowship continues to serve as a launchpad for strategic, high-impact activism for democracy. Fellows are returning home with new tools, stronger networks, and renewed purpose as they lead movements for democratic change in some of the world’s most autocratic environments.
