I traveled up to Tower, MN (which is basically in south Canada, 3 hours north of Minneapolis) to participate in the 2nd annual Major League Eating Indian Taco Eating Championship!
The field was complete with a much tougher lineup than last year including #1 Joey Chestnut, #3 Geoff Esper, #6 Gideon Oji, #7 Miki Sudo, #18 George Chiger, #21 Matt Hazzard #38 Matthew Raible and more! Geoff Esper was looking to break his own world record of 29 set at last year's contest.
The 5 oz. tacos were served as beef topped on pieces of Indian fry bread. They were pretty tasty but extremely difficult to eat. The bread was quite chewy and tested every eater's jaw strength. This contest was about strength and speed, as no one came close to their capacity within the time limit. You get 8 mintues to eat as many as possible and whatever is in your mouth as time runs out counts as long as it is swallowed.
