in which alexandra rambles about music while her camera winks in and out of focus
happy belated new year! as is always the case with me, this was meant to be up ages ago!
fun fact: if there is 525600 minutes in a year, that means i spent 11% of my entire 2017 just listening to music on spotify. worth it
2017 was actually kind of a really good year for me personally? even though it was internationally disastrous on a global scale? me and tara passed one year strong of living together. i got into grad school and passed my first semester, in which i wrote a brand new play. i got recommended for a job i was not qualified for and somehow still got the job, and now i get to sit at a desk and type things instead of standing all day in a coffee shop (RESPECT YOUR BARISTAS, GUYS). and i started dating a lovely person in what is my first relationship since being dumped around two years ago.
going into 2018, i want to keep the ball rolling and remember to take risks. i got a new ukulele for christmas that my friends pitched in to buy me together (i was so excited!!) and one of my resolutions is to actually practice on a regular schedule and improve at that! also, i want to be less scared of uploading covers? so hopefully we'll see more shitty music from me this year!
here's two quick lists of songs i listened to in 2017 (didn't necessarily come out in 2017) that didn't make it to my top 100 list, but that i would still recommend (and in some cases, would recommend higher than ones that ARE on my list--sometimes just because you listen to a song less than another, don't mean you think it's worse. My top 100 will always skew a bit more mainstream pop than indie pop simply because i play pump up songs while cleaning and showering):

Feelings - Hayley Kiyoko (also saw her live this year--and flor was opening, which is how i discovered them!--and she was so fucking good. first time i've gone to a concert by myself. that's how much i love her. i overcame my social anxiety enough to attend her concert with NO ONE TO TALK TO, LOOKING LIKE A LOSER)
