How to Make Commentary-Style Videos Two Ways on Samsung Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra Camera
Learn two practical ways to create commentary-style videos using the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. This type of recording is useful when you want to explain, react to, review, demonstrate, or provide narration while showing another video, scene, gameplay, or activity.
The first method uses the Camera app's Dual recordings feature. Open the Camera app, select Video mode, open Quick Controls, and select Dual recordings. Choose the Picture-in-picture layout when available. You can use one camera for the main view and the other camera for your face, creating a commentary-style video with your face displayed in a smaller window.
For example, the rear camera can capture the main subject while the front camera records your face. This is useful for product demonstrations, reaction videos, tutorials, travel content, unboxing videos, presentations, and commentary videos.
Before recording, check both camera previews. Position the smaller face-camera window so it does not hide important information in the main video. Depending on the available controls, you may be able to adjust the size or position of the smaller window.
The second method is to record the main video and your commentary separately and combine them during editing. You can record the main footage first and then record your voice or face-camera footage separately. A compatible video-editing application can then place the commentary over the main video.
This second method gives you more control because you can trim the commentary, adjust its position and size, synchronize it with specific parts of the main footage, and remove unwanted sections before exporting the final video.
For gaming commentary, screen recording is more appropriate for capturing gameplay. You can then combine the gameplay recording with a face-cam or voice commentary track during editing. Camera Dual recordings and screen recording are separate workflows.
For better commentary videos, use good lighting on your face, keep the phone steady, and make sure the camera lenses and microphones are not blocked. Use a quiet environment when recording voice commentary and perform a short audio test before making a longer video.
If Dual recordings is not visible, check Video mode and Quick Controls. On newer Samsung software, Dual rec can be integrated into Video mode, while Camera Assistant may provide access to Dual rec as an additional camera mode on supported devices.
You can also check the available Dual recordings save options. Depending on the software version, you may be able to save the recording as previewed or save the individual camera streams as separate files for later editing.
