Here we've got a 1970 Gottlieb Aquarius pinball machine for your viewing pleasure.
This is a classic Gottlieb wedgehead with special-chasing as its main objective. Hitting all of the lit numbers lights a rotating lit number for the special. An accurate plunger shot is critical for hitting the 300-point saucers at the top, both for the points they offer but also for simultaneously taking out three lit numbers at once (the numbers 2, 11 and 12 are particularly valuable here since they don't have direct shots from the flippers.
Overall Aquarius is a fun shooter with a fun objective and controlling the ball is particularly challenging. Hearing that knock, though, when the special is lit is among the best things in pinball. The artwork is fun but mildly bland and the theme is pretty strange. Is it hippy astrology in space with flowing water and cute animals? Not sure.
Aquarius was designed by the great Ed Krynski with artwork by Art Stenholm.
