Here we have a 1979 Gottlieb Solar Ride pinball machine in action for your viewing pleasure. This game was also released in electromechanical form and was actually Gottlieb's last 4-player EM. The EM version is extremely rare with only 365 units made.
The machine in the video is running the Pascal Pi-x4 board, which provides several new additions to the game, such as a skill shot, ball save, attract mode light animations and other enhancements. It's an expensive board but it's pretty neat.
This is a pretty basic Gottlieb machine from the System 1 era. The layout is kinda ho-hum with not much to shoot for on the right side, which makes the double flipper design on the left side pretty pointless. Hitting only the white drop targets on the left and leaving the red target for last lights that target for special, which is pretty fun to achieve. The other cool feature is that the drops don't reset when they're completed until the ball is shot into one of the two saucers so the player is forced to aim for those. The top lanes build the multiplier while the drops and star rollovers build the bonus.
It's not a great game but it's fun for a few flips.
