This Gustav Becker Clock might have been worked on or at least they tried to oil the movement because the movement was soaked in oil I found out while taking the movement apart. They failed because the clock would not run. The biggest thing about wind up clocks with a barrel spring is the spring might be caked up with dried out oil and just oiling the spring without cleaning it just might not work.
Come with me to see how I clean this movement and Main Spring along with shining up the lower base of the clock like new again.

Here I do most of my work on clocks. Mainly cuckoo clocks, yet I am always looking for the unusual and eye catching clocks. Some of the clocks I get into are ones that need saved from the dump. They fell off the wall from not securing the clock to the wall using the stud behind the sheetrock. Some of the clocks were laid to rest out in the garage or barn and I except the challenge of getting them back together again.
A well loved clock at one time is one that has a lot of wear and you find old bushings that might need to be replaced.
