1998 commercial features an in-line skater zipping through town, and he catches a glimpse of a beautiful girl (Amy Smart) on the way. He is quick to call mom on her dime and tell her to postpone dinner because he just saw an angel.

In the 90s there were many changes to the way Americans use phones. After the initial stage of companies trying to get people to switch their long distance provider, the next stage was the creation of various dial-around (10-10) and 1-800 based services to try to get customers to make calls on alternate services without having to switch providers (which was perceived to be a hassle).

After 1-800-COLLECT was successful, AT&T jumped in with 1-800-CALL-ATT with similar snappy, youth-oriented commercials. This commercial featuring young people and extreme sports fits the pattern.

The background music is the theme from 80s TV show "The Love Boat", a muzak favorite.

This 30 second spot aired in 1998 during the season premiere of The Simpsons.
