Today I watched the awesome 2026 edition of Summer Game Fest and it was a true joy to see all those newly announced titles. One of the biggest surprises to me was 1666 Amsterdam since I am Dutch myself. I was actually born in Amsterdam and lived there until I was three years old.
It is rare for The Netherlands to be represented in a videogame, so it felt awesome to see it here on the big screen.
The developers provided a free prologue to be experienced on Steam and today we archive this. We follow multiple protagonists and the gameplay present itself mostly in a puzzle game. The trailer showcased combat, but in the prologue we have to use environmental clues in order to solve various puzzles.
The game has a great and original setting, but can still feel a bit rough in terms of animations and mechanics. The full game does not have a release date yet, so I hope that they will tweak the little issues it has, but I cannot wait to visit my hometown in the 17th century and go on an adventure unlike any other!
