G'day everyone. This week I'm trying to make a large resin water ripple cast from a water ripple 40cm round acrylic disc using brushable Latex. I find the 2 part Silicone to be quite expensive when I want to make large silicone molds. Doing it with brushable Latex is much more cost effective as I only need a very small amount. I think I may have added too much liquid to thin the Latex or didnt allow each coat to dry enough as I had to do a top coat on the cast resin at the end. Still I love the end result so much!
The acrylic disc is only about1/2 a cm high and I also wanted a higher edge. If I end up making wall art resin water ripple items I'd like them thicker then what the disc is. Essentially the cast resin could become another mold making surface if I needed. I could also use it to make a 2 part silicone mold with a deeper edge then the acrylic disc IF I can get cheaper mold making silicone that I like.
