While cleaning my art area in the garage I came across paints and pigments that had been mixed up from up to 2yrs ago. Some were for the SheleeArt Bloom technique (pouring colours and cell activator colours) and other even older mixes were for paint pouring. Thankfully I had labeled which were for what tech. All were in air tight containers.
I poured all the Bloom mixes that were a similar colours into one cup (regardless if a paint or pigment...just mixed them all together). I went from 60 plus seperate colours to around 12 cups of colour!! Then I did the same for the paint pour colours and seperated the two.
Next I selected 6 BLOOM colours and went about adjusting the consistencies in each cup to get them back to a working consistency for the Bloom. I also adjusted the cell activators as well.
My pillow paint, Taubmans untinted walls and trim, Aussie Floetrol, JoSonja gloss varnish and water mix had all been sitting there for well over a year as well and I used ONLY these to test if all these older ingredients and mixes would still work. Man was I in for a surprise!!
Here is the original Bloom recipe for Pouring medium and its this pouring medium in my old mixed up piant and pigments. The Bloom consists of 3 parts
1) Pillow paint: Im using British Paints low sheen interior house paint in WHITE.
2)Pouring Medium (PM)
*Taubman's Neutral gloss, doors and trim interior house paint (UNTINTED)
* Jo Sonja Gloss varnish.
Ratio varies as some tube paints are thicker then others but generally its 3-4 parts untinted base to 1 part varnish=PM
Use the PM mixed with the paint and adjust consistency till you get a 3-4 sec trace. To thicken either add more tube paint or if colours looks good use just a bit more Taubmans untinted on own to thciken.
To thin make up a solution of 3 parts Jo Sonja gloss varnish to 1 part water and use splashes of this to thin a thick mix
NOTE. The Taubmans has been discontinued in Oz and Shelee is working on a new formula for us.
3) Cell Activator (CA)
* Australian Flood Floetrol from Bunning's in Australia and NZ. (Fluid Art Co sell it internationally. See link below)
* Tube paint of choice such as Amsterdam standard series, Atelier, Matisse, Holecroft and Jo Sonja etc
Mix paint and Flo and slowly add more Flo till you get a 2 sec trace. If too thin add more paint and if too thick add more Flo
