Once upon a time it was in a server, but it’s not a real server hard disk …

Usually I tear down server hard disks only. This 15 year old Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 obviously came out of a server, but it’s clearly not a server hard disk, sporting SATA instead of SAS and 7200 RPM only.

I took it apart anyway. With a capacity of just 160 GB it was not a big surprise to find just a single platter inside. The controller board is quite small and surprisingly highly integrated for its age (just three chips).
