"Everybody remembers Bruyeres, what happened," says Genro Kashiwa in his interview. In what he called a "first test in battle," Genro recalls the harrowing moments of trying to approach the town. During the liberation, he remembers that he and his comrades were accidentally fired upon with armor piercing shells by fellow Americans who thought they were part of the German army.
