Tornado Outbreak | June 11, 2026 | Illinois & Indiana Gabe Cox | StormReel 2026-06-16 | Raw video of the tornado outbreak that occurred on June 11, 2026 in northern Illinois and Indiana. Within a four-hour window, I witnessed a total of 8 tornadoes, some at extremely close range. The day started off with some doubt as to what I’d see. After meeting up with friend and chaser @AndrewPritchard for lunch, the two of us parked our vehicles near an organizing supercell near Peoria, IL. Within minutes, we were individually racing off to surround the storm as a massive wedge formed almost instantly. From that moment on, one of the most surreal and intense chases I’ve ever been on unfolded as tornado after tornado tore through the countryside. After eight tornadoes, the chase ended when I drove into a neighborhood that had been damaged near the town Hebron, Indiana. Amazingly, the four individuals within the home I ran up to were unharmed.

Round Rock - Hutto - Granger, TX Large Tornado at Close Range // March 21, 2022 Gabe Cox | StormReel 2022-03-22 | Close range intercept of the tornado that began in Round Rock, TX. Our team remained northeast of Round Rock and intercepted the tornado north of Taylor, TX as it moved over Highway 95. After checking on some locals that had gotten hit, we later caught back up with the storm after it passed Granger and watched a tornado (possibly the same one) rope out south of Rodgers, TX. We're happy to report that the family in the home that we check on was completely unharmed, though very much shaken.

We could hear the high pitched whistle of the tornado as it lofted debris into the air less than a quarter mile away. Thankfully it was a weak and short lived tornado. This was another great reminder of why chasing in residential areas can quickly become dangerous.

Known as the Central Texas Tornado Outbreak, the day gave birth to one of Texas' most infamous tornadoes - the Jarrell, TX F5. Jim talks about how what seemed to be a typical severe weather day in Central Texas turned into a "freak of nature" weather event as he relayed warnings live on KXAN throughout the afternoon and evening.
