A really useful addition to INAV 7 was the ability to add custom OSD elements. Using these, you could pretty much show any data you want on the OSD. There are some limits. The data needs to be accessible or created in the programming tab. But other than that, you can fill your boots.
In this video, I show an example of how you can simply get some flight data and show it on the OSD. My example shows how to add altitude in metres and distance from home in kilometres. You may think that those units are already available. Not if your OSD is in a non-metric configuration ;)
I also show an example of how to replicate the functionality of the current OSD switch indicators.

In this video we look at a couple of issue that have come up quite a lot recently.
The first issue is not being able to arm. Even with a good satellite lock, with at least 6 3D fixes, and a low HDOP. A rogue parameter setting may be causing you this problem.
Next we look at the default parameter setting that caused the release of INAV 7.1.2. This setting would turn off the use of the barometer, when in most cases it should be enabled.
TL;DW: The CLI commands are
set inav_use_gps_no_baro = off
set inav_max_eph_epv = 1000

Here is a useful little cable from SpeedyBee. Which makes charging easier. In the days of old. Chargers used to come with long leads. Which meant plugging in the battery was pretty easy. These days, chargers are more minimalistic. The main power and balance ports are flush installed in the charger. It looks nice. But it can be a pain to plug in the battery. Especially when the battery has short balance leads.
In the past, we could have used regular balance extensions to make life a bit easier. But, you either had to force the balance lead in to the extension. Or cut down the socket on the extension to allow batteries of different cell counts to fit.
SpeedyBee have released some balance lead extensions that allow us to have an easier time. The sockets can accept 2S to 6S packs without any forcing or modification.

In this video we check out the multifunction buttons that are on all the latest FrSKY transmitters. On the X18, X20, and XE, there are 6 buttons at the bottom centre of the transmitter. On the TWIN X-Lite, there are 4 buttons, just below the screen. This video shows how this works on an X20. But it's the same on all the transmitters. With the X-Lite, you will have 4-pos, 4pos with off, 4 x 2 pos, and momentary modes. All the different button modes are explained. Plus, I show how to get 2x3 pos, 6-pos, and 6-pos with off modes operating on a single channel.

This is my first time trying a live unboxing. Did it totally suck, or is there some hope? What did you think? Leave me a comment and let me know.
The main differences between the V3 and V4 are:
Flight controller:
The V 3 has a BMI270 gyro, whereas the V4 now uses an ICM42688P. The V4 has an improved LDO power chip for the gyro with much better surge protection. The V4 can handle 3A on the 5v and 9v BECs, compared to 2A on the V3. The V4 has DSHOT support on INAV from the get go. V3 currently doesn't work with DSHOT on INAV. But an update in INAV 7 will get this working. The SD card reader chip is better quality and more reliable.
ESC:
Continuous current is now 55A, up from 50A. The burst current is now 70A, up from 55A. The copper traces are thicker. There is now an aluminium heatsink. The MOSFETs have a lower internal resistance, and there are more filtering capacitors. The V4 is about 10g heavier than the V3; about half of this increase is due to the heat sink.

In this video, we revisit a nice addition to your transmitter model. This will allow you to climb or descend as a set rate. I have shown you how to do this before. But this new version is much better. Now you can enable and disable your climb or descent without needing to change the rate. There are also nice automated entries and exits for this assistance feature.

In this video we check out how to transfer modes, audio, LUA, and bitmaps between ETHOS transmitters. This is particularly useful if you have changed or upgraded transmitters. The moving process is pretty simple. But make sure that your moved models work as expected before flying. Especially if moving between transmitters that have different switches and buttons. You will likely need to re-register and re-bind your receivers.

This is a bit of a different video for me. It's not really a tutorial or review. But more just passing along some information to dispel some mistruths that are going around. In particular, this video comes as a result of seeing some of the comment's in Mads Tech's (@MadRC) video "DJI Goggles 2 & O3 FPV Do Not Buy - They Just Don't Care" (youtu.be/r72p6bI63Dg). In this video, Ian makes a lot of harsh, but fair comments about DJI, and this whole mess with their firmware.
One guys' comments in particular caught my eye, stating: "INAV devs CAN fix this, but they are stubborn and just won't bother. Why not blame the INAV devs?" and "Yeah, INAV devs can fix this, but they want drama in the community." Other than the INAV developers and community being the least likely to cause "drama". The INAV community is genuinely one of the most helpful I've been involved with. It is showing that some people don't actually know what's going on here.
The INAV devs did a lot of work to get even a basic level of OSD for O3 pilots. Something that they should not have even needed to do, if DJI had done things properly.
Hopefully this video will go some way to show exactly what the problem is. Why it is 100% DJIs fault, how INAV devs are actually going above and beyond to support O3 pilots, and why the font is so important. TL;DR, it isn't just about the characters looking different!

In this video we take a look at how to set up a basic waypoint mission in INAV. I'm using version 6.1.1. so some of the options may not be available on older version. We look at:
- The mode you need to fly a waypoint mission
- What settings are available on the Advanced Tuning page
- How to set up a basic mission in Mission Control
- Flying the mission
This should give you all the information you need to know to setup and fly your first INAV mission.
NOTE: Please do not fly a mission before making sure that your aircraft is fully set up and correctly tuned. You should be 100% confident that the aircraft can fly safely and reliably in both standard and navigational flight modes. For example, if RTH is not smooth and predictable. Do not fly a mission until is it setup and tuned correctly, so that it is.

A few people have contacted me, having problems configuring Archer Plus stabilised receivers, such as the SR10+. The SXR Tool no longer works for these receivers, and changes revert back to their old stated. The solution is to install new SRX LUA script tools These add new calibration and setup tools for the Archer Plus stabilised receivers. These new tools will be included as part of ETHOS 1.5. But, until then. We need to install them ourselves.
In this video, we have a quick overview of making sure everything is up to date. For full videos on updating, please see the links below. After that, we download and install the LUA script tools. Next, we have a quick look at the tool. If you have used the old SxR Tool. The new SR tool is very familiar. Only some of the names have changed to make things clearer.

In this video we look at how to work with profiles in INAV. There are two types of profile: control profiles and battery profiles. These can be used to change settings based on the battery you plug in, a switch position, or manually set via stick commands. You can even change control profiles based on data from your flight controller via the programming tab. For example having different control profile based on your speed.
Most people will likely only need the battery profiles. Chances are that you may want to fly with different chemistry batteries, different capacity batteries, or different cell counts. If so, using the battery profiles is the best way to set this up.

In this video we look at how to record log files on your ETHOS transmitter. I show two recording methods. One records all the time. The other only records when your throttle or arm switch is active. There's no use recording log files if you don't know how to find them. So I also show where they are on the transmitter; and how to access them on your PC.
