Flavours Of AsiaToday, I’ll be sharing another easy and fool-proof method to make springy and chewy Yellow Noodles, also known as “Mee Kuning” in Malaysia. All you need is a rolling-pin to make the dough, and a pasta machine to roll out the noodles into your desired thickness and cut. I think a pasta machine is a great investment, especially for those of us who enjoy making noodles, pasta, etc., from scratch!
These noodles are great in soups or stir-fried. I’ll link a few recipes where I’ve used these noodles, as well as share a couple of new ones to follow (make sure to watch out for those!) Thank you for watching and for your endless support!!

Simply soften the skin with some water and then wrap it with meat, seafood (fish paste!) or even just use it plainly in soups or stir-fry! Personally, we love deep-frying the tofu skin until it's crispy and then mixing it into out hot pot, soups and even sometimes instant noodles! You could also have it on its own! Here are the ingredients!:

I was craving some Sang Har Mee but my daughter is currently trying to cut out gluten from her diet so I thought of this creative alternative! My grandmother would often make this dish on special occasions, in particular during the Lunar New Year. Hakka Abacus Beads (客家算盘子) is a traditional Hakka dish that is made with taro/yam. The ingredients used are similar to that of Gnocchi, but instead of potato, we use taro/yam! Growing up, we were told that much like the name, each “bead” is meant to signify prosperity and wealth. You can prepare the “beads” in a variety of ways, but in this recipe, I’ll be showing you how to prepare it the way my grandmother did!
How To Make Hakka Abacus Beads (QQ Texture) About 790 to 800 grams Peeled Taro/Yam, cubes 2 Large Shallots, peeled & sliced 1/2 tsp Sea Salt 1 Tbsp Peanut or Vegetable Oil 4 Cups of Boiling Water 1 Bag/400 grams of Tapioca Starch

#CrispyVadai #MasalaVada #SnacksHow To Make Popiah/Fresh Spring RollsFlavours Of Asia2020-09-05 | Popiah or Fresh Spring Rolls, are typically filled with a variety of healthy and fresh ingredients. No hard or fast rules here, just fill it up with what you like! I like mine with sweet sauce over a leaf of lettuce, cooked jicama, green beans, fried tofu, shredded omelet, fried shallots, blanched bean sprouts, cucumber, and thinly sliced fried Chinese sausages (it’s non-halal, and only if I have some available!). Once filled, wrap it up and you’ve got yourself a delicious tasting spring roll! This is a great meal to make when having a casual gathering or a small party. Usually, one would arrange the fillings in the middle of the table and guests can pick and choose what they’d like in their Popiah. With social distancing measures in place however, it's probably best to divide the fillings into individual portions and have them get creative that way! It’s quite fun watching everyone trying to gather all of the fillings into the popiah wrap without letting it fall apart!
As requested by many of subscribers, I’ve also included an extra segment where I’ve made the popiah dough with a mixer as opposed to it being handmade (hence, this video may be slightly longer than my usual ones!). Just a friendly reminder, the dough should be elastic and smooth, and when making it, don’t be too concerned over the thinness and the sizes of the wrapper. You can always use 2 to 3 wrappers when making your Popiah! Enjoy! :)

Traditionally, rice pin noodles are made with soaked grinded rice, similar to the method I showed in a previous video about how to make “rice cakes.” This recipe consists of only two ingredients, rice flour and water, and you’ll be surprised with the results: soft, bouncy, and chewy noodles! This video will showcase two different methods. The first method is kneading and shaping the dough manually and the second, is mixing the dough with a machine and pushing the dough with the heel of your hand. Although the end result of one may look better than the other, both results are equally good in taste and texture! You can use these noodles in a variety of ways from stir-fry to soup or even mixing it in with a savory meat sauce (as shown in one of my videos which I will link in the in the description box!)
