Second part of my Zootopia Layout Reel—from an early story version where Nick Wilde was the one being chased through Little Rodentia.
Even though this sequence was cut and later reworked, the layout explorations helped shape the camera language and cinematic style used in the final film. Layout is an early, iterative stage where we test ideas—some make it through, many don’t—but each pass helps push the movie toward its final form.
Layout is a visual storytelling generalist role: rough character animation, temp lighting/effects, occasional modeling of missing elements, and most importantly camera, composition, and shot continuity—choosing lens, f-stop, angles, and moves to keep action clear, emotions readable, and timing precise.
