This was such a fun shot to animate. I especially like the story telling aspect of this one. While Elsa is creating toys for the kids during this sequence this shot actually tells us way more than that. While the boys are getting teddy bears or dinosaurs this little girl asks for a Sextant. This tiny shot tells us about the dreams and passion of a little girl, without any words and in the shortest amount of time. Shots like these are my favorite, where stories can be told without the necessity of extra dialogues.
The storyboards helped me a lot to figure out all the beats in this shot and the work from the layout department were a great help to keep the timing of things in mind. From blocking to spline pass you can see adjustments I made to Elsa's hand poses as she crafts the Sextant. If I remember correctly those were great notes from @wayne_unten & Hyun-Min Lee.
Once I polished the shot I also got asked to do rough drawovers for the FX department for timing suggestions of the toy creation. Their final FX are 10.000 more beautiful. Really love all the details in there.
