LOL! No, I did not set myself on fire in the last second of the video and then edit it out. I only have 1 second of video of the Pine Needles tinder bundle going to flames because my phone overheated in the Sun and cut off on me. WOW!!!
Anyways, the real magic is when that Ziploc bag of gas made a hot enough focal point to ignite the Punk Wood. I have plenty of video of that. Now, I could have easily recreated this solar ignition and gotten some good video of the burning tinder bundle... BUT IT'S JUST TOO DANGEROUS!!!
Let's count all the dangers involved in this one:
1) You could easily get gas on you without realizing it and set yourself on fire.
2) The tightly twisted Ziploc bag could break right when the punk wood is ignited and if the fumes are right, you'll set yourself on fire.
3) While twisting up the Ziploc bag into the lens it could break and gas get in your eyes and/or cover you with gas... a very unsafe and vulnerable condition to be in... blinded and covered in gas.
So, of course, do not ever try this with gas, but with water. If the one in a million emergency ever arises where you have to have fire and there's no other choice...
