Back in Xandria Adol gets word that Dorman asks for his audience, but before going he visits Niena who thanks him for his rescue back in Foresta Cave and sheds more light on her father Stein. Dorman, too, is glad things went well in the cave and gives Adol the Lumen Crystal and gives him a hint on the location of another crystal based on Stein's travels: the Marshland Cave. Before heading out though, he's alerted by Niena's scream and encounters the cloaked figure Karion in her item shop. He threatens Adol to stay out of Kefin affairs and vanishes, taking Stein's medallion with him.
Outside, Adol runs into Willy who's on an errand, and in talking about Kefin he name drops Massea, someone he once met who knew much about the civilization. Adol too eventually comes across this cabin on his way to the marshland and meets Massea in person. In conversing about the search for the Phantom City, she teaches Adol the basics of the lost art of alchemy, to which he catches on to quite quickly.
As inconvenient magic is in this game, you don't actually have hold the button to charge to 100 like the game prompts. Mashing works much faster; having to hold it would probably make magic absolute sadness...
