------------------------------------------

The story of Cross Dimension follows the Albatross Transport Unit's attempts at holding the Gobi desert-based Albatross base from waves of Zeon raids, most persistently coming from the Wolf Gar team led by Henry Boone, pilot of the limited production mobile suit Efreet. The base is home to the production of the Gundam Pixie, one of the many Gundam models created during the latter half of the war intended for use by the White Base crew, specifically by newtype Amuro Ray. The conflict is one between two bands of outcasts, and some of their own priorities come to shape the events of the back and forth struggle.

In this introductory mission, the Wolf Gar team runs an assault on the Albatross Base in order to reclaim their status as an attached unit of the Zeon main forces. Captain Bork Cry's attempts at persuading Major Noct to allow use of the Gundam Pixie go unrewarded, and upon learning of the Wolf Gar's approach, he and his second-in-command Daba Soy are forced to sortie in the two RX-77 Guncannon units to defend the base.

Saki Graham and Ray Hamilton of the Wolf Gar are able to infiltrate the Albatross base's supply hangar during the conflict, but Henry's order to retreat leaves them unable to make any great impact outside of nabbing some supplies. Before leaving, they also notice a large, peculiar container labeled RX-78XX.

-----------------------------------
As a first mission goes, it's not too bad. The Guncannon and eventually Gundam Pixie stats all carry over from the end of Mission 14, so the biggest problem that could arise with this mission is that the Guncannons weren't leveled up too well in the main scenario. Thankfully the enemies are pretty lite in this mission, so even though they now lack the multi-shot attack Pinpoint, the Guncannons don't get overwhelmed and can dish out enough damage. If worse comes to worse, using Daba as a shield can be an effective strategy (and once you get access to the Pixie, it definitely becomes more viable). As long as Bork isn't shot down, the missions don't end.

My team here is pretty well off, but it still pays to practice caution. E-Pacs, the health items for this game, are all you need over magazines, so stock plenty of those up and distribute health evenly. Without Pinpoint, ranged attacks are pretty slow and useless, so close range is the go-to option in this mission. Outside of the Efreet, Martin's Zaku is notoriously bulky all throughout the game and a constant problem, but once you've forced the Zakus and Henry's Efreet to retreat, the mission ends. Lester tends to flee to the other screen, but sometimes he doesn't... because honestly the game is kinda picky-choosy about how a mission ends. Sometimes it can take only one retreat for someone to actually retreat, and other times they can constantly go back and forth between screens, forcing you to spend the resources to give chase. At the very least there's a base quota for every mission, so (as Bork will yell at the player at basically every mission start) going after the quota on Zakus first and then the Efreet makes it so you only have to fight Henry once per mission, saving you the trouble of worrying about resources as much.

Also, the playthrough itself is a little choppy thanks to my endless tweaking of remotejoy for future projects (and it really seems to hate SNES games). I was going to export my saves to my PC and record with ZSNES, but I was halfway rendering the last video for this playthrough and decided to spend my time elsewhere instead of retreading the same ground. Apologies in advance for the imperfections, but gotjamit I'd like to get remotejoy ironed out lol.
