Falcom have been really busy over the past several years, creating some absolutely awesome RPGs; in the Trails and Ys series. They’ve been doing so much right, and if you ask me, they’re making themselves one of the leading JRPG developers. The Ys series saw a huge rise in popularity after Ys VIII was released in 2017, and now we have the latest in this long running series; Ys 9: Monstrum Nox. This game provides much of what was great about its predecessors, but throws a new spin on things with the game taking place in a single city. If you’re after a fun JRPG with solid action focused gameplay an engaging story, then look no further than Ys IX.

Hi guys, I’m going to do something a little bit different today. While it’s true that I’ve mainly played RPGs for the majority of my life, it didn’t start out that way. Back when I was about 5 to 10 years old, I played a load of weird and whacky games that really helped get me into video gaming in general. It was only when I was 11 or 12 that I started playing RPGs.
This video is going to look into the games that I played early on in my life and the story behind my experiences with them. There are a lot of weird ones in here that you’ve probably never of, but there are also some mainstream ones on the list that deserve a mention.

Scarlet Nexus has been a bit of a surprise packet for me this year. Everything I had seen about the game was looking good, but I was still surprised how much I would actually enjoy it.
The game was developed by Bandai Namco, a company who seriously who known how to Action RPG, as evident with Code Vein, and the recent Tales Of Games. Their latest title, Scarlet Nexus is an anime style, action RPG, set in a futuristic sci-fi world, and these are all ticks for me.

I don’t know how or why it happened, but Parasite Eve was a game that got away from me during the PS1 JRG era. At least now, in 2021, I can finally say that I have completed Square Softs Parasite Eve.
Now, I know that sometimes, when going back and playing these classics without the nostalgia goggles, it can be difficult to find enjoyment, due to outdated mechanics, controls and visuals, but in playing this, I tried to factor in how these elements would have been for me in the 90s.
Honestly, Parasite Eve is so highly regarded for a reason, and as a hardcore 90s RPGer, it’s so easy to see why.
This review is going to look into why Parasite Eve on the Playstation 1 is a must play action RPG, if you, like myself, missed it in the past.

The JRPG genre has been evolving for around 40 years now. It has seen its share of ups and downs, but right now, its arguably in the best place that it has ever been. Since the early 80s, we’ve seen the releases of 1000s of JRPGs, or JRPG style titles, from hundreds of different developers, but it goes without saying that not all of them are created equally.
This series is going to look at the very best JRPGs ever made, or at least, my favorite. This is my personal top 100 JRPGs of all time! What can change the nature of a man? This is a quote that I won’t be forgetting any time soon and it’s a question that I have recently spent the good part of 40 hours trying to answer. If you ask me, it was time well spent.
After over 20 years of playing RPGs I would like to think that I’ve played most of the big dogs. Even today, I find myself constantly comparing modern games to those of the past and thinking ‘They don’t make games like they used to!” Planescape: Torment is one such RPG that I constantly compare games to. The reviews for this game have always been absolutely amazing with many gamers claiming it to be among the best stories ever told in a video game. It’s hard to argue with that, Planescape: Torment is just so unique, and memorable in just about every way.
I’ve completed both the original PC version, and BeamDog and Skybounds recent ‘Enhanced Edition’ on consoles, which is also bundled with Icewind Dale. This review is going to examine the game as a whole, and also compare both versions, which will hopefully give you an idea which one you should play.

Final Fantasy V! Also Known as the FF that gets no love! And why
is that? Probably because it wasn’t released in the US until 1999. This is a shame, because FFV is awesome and if you ask me, horribly underrated.
While these remastered additions are great, it’s FF5s Job system that is still the life of the party, even 30 years later. This, and the fact that the whole FF5 experience is a lot of fun, makes this title a must play JRPG, if you’re into the classics.

Saga Frontier 2 is another one of those PS1 JRPGs that I never got to play back in the day. I had always heard it was an interesting game, but you know how it is; there were other games to play at the time, and Saga Frontier 1 didn’t exactly blow me away.
To tell you the truth, I don’t think I ever would have gotten around to playing it if it wasn’t for the recent remaster on modern consoles, which instantly dropped, the moment it was announced during a Nintendo Direct.
If you’ve ever been tempted to try out this classic, or if you want to play something a little unconventional, then the Saga Frontier 2 remaster is worth checking out.
