These Industry Sessions are part of a range of Young Film Programmers-focused activities, programmed by Film Hub South East, Depot and Reel Connections.
For this session we were delighted to welcome Megan Mitchell (Producer, Matchbox Cine) for the first in our new series of YFP Industry Sessions. These sessions are designed to give our Young Film Programmers and others the opportunity to talk directly to people working in the film exhibition sector, addressing different aspects of programming with a range of experts from across the industry. This session was recorded on Thursday 29 October 2020.

In this session, Megan talked through the idea of ‘youth programming’ and what it means to her. Megan is a recognised leader in this field and has championed youth engagement in the film industry throughout her work at Matchbox and beyond. She continues to prioritise and promote increased equality and access throughout her events and projects, including sliding scale ticket pricing and captioning for D/deaf audiences. Megan is also the world’s leading academic on Valley Girl (1983) and co-founder of the world’s first ever film festivals dedicated entirely to acting legends, Keanu Reeves (Keanucon) and Nicolas Cage (Cage-a-rama).
