The Film Exhibition, Distribution and Sales (FEDS scheme) offered 15 trainees the opportunity of nine-months paid (London Living Wage equivalent) work experience in film exhibition, distribution and sales companies. The scheme aimed to recruit a majority of candidates from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds as these groups are underrepresented in the film industry (just 3% of employees are from BAME backgrounds). The scheme, a partnership between the Independent Cinema Office, the Film Distributors' Association and Film Export UK and funded by Creative Skillset, has already proved a success, with over 50% of the trainees graduating to roles in the industry.
