Everybody gets taught "use your legs" for shot power and I'm here to tell you that's not quite right. It's the dip. Same as a golf swing, same as throwing a football, you go back before you go forward.⁣

The knee straightening and the dip work together for power, sure, but the second a player thinks legs are THE source, they start bending their knees to no end, think Draymond Green at the backpack shot. Bend too much and the ball comes up early, and now the whole rhythm of the jump shot is wrecked.⁣

Look at Steph. He barely leaves the ground from 40 feet and shoots 50% on those. It's not about getting low, it's about rhythm and turning that one-two into a hop for a springier jump.⁣

This is exactly the kind of cue that sounds right but coaches the wrong habit into a shooter. #shorts
