🌟 Watercolor paper is different from other types of paper because it is made to handle water-soluble mediums and heavy water soaking.
Paper sizing is a substance that is either synthetic, plant-based or animal based.
It's added to watercolor paper by manufacturers, either as the pulp is being made, after the sheets are made, or both, so that watercolor can perform how it should.
Without good paper sizing watercolor is simply not able to do its thing. 🥴🖌️
🧿 When paper sizing is affected (which can happen when it is kept in humid conditions, not stored adequately, or simply over time), this can greatly impact our painting process and our end results.
