Your power in any situation lies in being clear about two things: who you are, and your purpose in being there.
Both your identity and your purpose are the same as everyone else’s, actually. You are a representative of Love on earth, and your purpose is to extend that Love. You don’t have to have a “special” purpose to be worthy of respect. You don’t need a “brand” in order to be headed for success.
Sound too simple? The ego would say that, of course. A COURSE IN MIRACLES says “complexity is of the ego.” Sometimes it’s the very simplicity of a concept that makes the ego resist it most.
Little children aren’t obsessing about finding their unique contribution; they’re each unique because God made them that way. We, however, think we have to find out what’s unique or special about ourselves. And that’s what sets us up for self-sabotage, as we trip over ourselves trying to be someone we think we’re supposed to be.
You just BEING is special, in its own way. In any moment when we’re clear in our minds, “I’m a representative of Love and my purpose in this situation is to extend it,” our synapses fire more powerfully, our minds have more clarity, and our personality is more attractive. Then, no matter what our individual talent or abilities, they are used on behalf of a higher purpose. And miracles flow from there...
