What makes the Yakuza series so absolutely endearing is not only its gritty crime story, unforgettable characters and kick-ass soundtrack, but it’s ability to laugh at itself.

Yakuza never takes itself too seriously, even though the material presented is astonishingly brutal. Kiryu, Akira and company take time out of their ball-busting day to perform these ultra-goofy, ridiculous side activities.

And this is why I adore Yakuza.
