I caught up with WOW Superhero, The Albanian Grappler Xena Phoenix, to talk about her journey, her battles outside the ring and what is next for her in WOW. We also chatted about her issues with Top Tier and the former trios champions falling apart. For Xena, the order does not matter when it comes to facing Top Tier. She simply wants her revenge on every member.
Hailing from Albania, Xena embodies the mentality of a true warrior. Growing up, she tried every sport and extracurricular activity available to her. From the soccer field to the theater stage, she pushed herself to master whatever challenge was placed in front of her. Her father encouraged her to pursue a more practical path in life while her mother supported her creative passions, leaving Xena searching for a sense of direction and her true destiny.
Eventually, Xena decided it was time for a fresh start. She moved to Los Angeles and began a new chapter in her life, a rebirth that would prove fitting for the childhood nickname she carried with her, Phoenix.
In Los Angeles, Xena first stepped into the boxing ring before finding her way into mixed martial arts, then muay thai, grappling and finally Brazilian jiu jitsu. She quickly discovered that combat sports were where she belonged. In her first tournament, Xena won gold after choking out her opponent in just 30 seconds. It was a defining moment that gave her a new purpose and showed her what she was capable of achieving.
Just as she reached what felt like the beginning of something special, everything changed. Xena felt a knot in her neck and her training and competition career came to an abrupt halt. After visiting a doctor, she was diagnosed with a tumor. The diagnosis sent her into a deep depression and left her unable to train or compete. Once again, Xena was forced to reinvent herself and find a way forward.
Rather than allowing those hardships to define her, Xena turned to wrestling. She found a new outlet for her frustration, determination and competitive spirit while embracing the symbolism of the phoenix. Just as the mythical creature rises from the ashes, Xena rebuilt herself and transformed her struggles into motivation inside the ring.
Now competing in WOW, Xena carries the distinction of being the first Albanian professional wrestler. Representing her homeland is at the heart of her dream and every challenge she faces is another opportunity to prove what she is capable of.
That determination is especially evident in her ongoing conflict with Top Tier. With the former trios champions falling apart and tensions continuing to rise, Xena has made it clear that she is not concerned with who she faces first. Whether she gets one member before another makes no difference to her. What matters is making sure every member of Top Tier eventually answers for what they have done.
Xena Phoenix has already been forced to rise from the ashes once. Now she is ready to do it again, this time with Top Tier standing in her way.
