Trump’s Department of Education posted a government-produced video pairing Donald Trump with a famous Darkest Hour scene about confronting an authoritarian enemy, apparently without understanding who the “tiger” represents in the movie. The bizarre post comes after the department shed thousands of employees and gutted offices responsible for special education and civil rights enforcement, while taxpayer-funded social media staff continue producing Trump promotional content. Whether the clip came from staggering historical illiteracy or somebody who understood the reference perfectly, neither explanation reflects well on the agency responsible for American education.
