Today we visit a place that goes unnoticed here in NYC: The Brooklyn Army Terminal (BAT, for short).
This terminal was designed by Cass Gilbert and, at the time, was the largest poured concrete structure in the world. It was also the largest military depot in the country, transporting equipment and soldiers into and out of New York during World War 2 and the wars that succeeded.
It now is housed by a few industrial and commercial tenants and is slowly becoming the industrial design and manufacturing hub of New York City.
