Reality TV is so unpredictable that even the cast members can’t control how they’ll be portrayed or perceived. I auditioned for Ben Higgins’s season of the Bachelor and I always wonder what my edit would’ve been. Would I have been the girl next door? The weird girl who sits by herself in the corner eating cheese? Or would I have gotten the villain edit?
It’s made me reflect on how little control reality TV cast members have over how they’re perceived by the public. Producers and editors can manipulate a conversation based on the narrative they want to present, and I’m so glad I never went on the show.
