One of the things that I wanted to make when it comes to segmented work is the Celtic Knot Pattern. This Salt Cellar is my first attempt; the knot consists of only two slices of wood but still the result is quite interesting to watch. I was concerned that the piece wouldn't hold up and while drilling out the center I even heard a loud crack. This must have been the forstner bit crashing through one of the inlays; nothing broke.
For the next one I will probably try four rings instead of two. This will require making some sort of a jig to keep eveything aligned while the glue dries. Let me know in the comments if you would like to see me making that jig. There's plenty of information available on YouTube already.
All in all a successful project. Let me know what you think!
