One of the things I wanted to make is a big planter for outdoor use. To make it I used a chunk of Poplar which was drying next to my wood stash - for a few months. Turned out it wasn't very dry yet, far from it actually. As such it was the biggest and heaviest piece of wood on the Lathe thus far.
Nevertheless I managed to make something out of it as you can see here.
