In this video, I am FINALLY back out in the woods after a long, but very busy break from filming.
After setting up a simple tarp shelter and hooped bivvy bag sleep system, I set about the usual camp duties - firewood, fire, brew.
Dinner this evening is Asian inspired kimchi noodles with sweet chilli chicken - just the job to accompany a couple of rather cheeky beers.
A good nights rest followed by coffee and sausage baps and its soon time to pack away, until next time!
I’d like to take this opportunity to make a few apologies:
Firstly, about the lack of videos and Instagram posts over the past few months - life outside of YouTube has been a bit hectic this year - work, building work at home, my daughters wedding, preparing for and jumping through countless hoops to get medical clearance for my upcoming deployment to South Georgia, more work, more building work….I just having had the opportunity to get out with the camera until now!
I am hugely sorry to those of you who have reached out with kind messages to check if everything was okay during my ‘offline’ period - I have had so many lovely messages and comments, that I just didn’t manage to get back to them all with a reply. I want you to know that they were all massively appreciated and the love and support that comes through has kept me going when everything was so frantically busy!
Next, I’d like to apologise in advance for the next big gap in videos. I will shortly be deployed to South Georgia, a sub antarctic island in the Southern Ocean to take part in an important heritage building work project organised by the South Georgia Heritage Trust. The project is due to take around 5 months to complete and during that time I will have very limited satellite internet signal, so video uploads will not be possible and social media interactions will be limited. I will be back in the spring and look forward to telling you all about it!
And finally I would like to apologise for the quality of some of the clips in this video! My main camera (and my broken back-up) is being repaired and I’ve had to press an old camera into service - the thing has a mind of its own and wanders in and out of focus without warning, turns itself off at will and has terrible low-light quality. Normal quality will be resumed once my proper camera is back!
