The nylon brackets that support the adjustable windscreen on the GS must be a weak point, judging by the number of replacements available on eBay. A replacement bracket's got my screen back in alignment.
The broken part is described by BMW as "Windshield Bracket", Part# 46 63 8 524 932
The display anti-theft protector & adjustable screen strengtheners are all from Cymarc in the UK:
