Tuning Amal Concentric Mk.1 carbs over their full range needs to be done in 4 steps. The needle and needle jet only significantly influence performance at mid throttle openings. In this case over rich mixture was causing the engine to fail to fire on every power stroke. Lowering the jet needle cured the issue.
