June 8, 1967 ... The day Israel attacked the United States.
This is the story of the U.S.S. Liberty, a United States communications "spy"-ship that was operating in the south-eastern Mediterranean, when it was suddenly and unexpectedly attacked by Israeli Jets and Torpedo Boats.
The attack lasted over an hour, killing 34 US Navy men, Marines, and a civilian... and wounding another 172, out of an overall crew of 294 personnel.
Israel responded by saying the attack was an accident, and that they had mistaken the U.S.S. Liberty for an Egyptian transport ship (that was about half the size of the Liberty, and only 1/5th the tonnage).
The Johnson Administration accepted and fully pushed this explanation...
... but is it the truth?
The "hushing-up" of the Liberty crew, and the overall cover-up of what truly happened that day began immediately, while the ship was still being escorted to Malta for repairs immediately following the attack.
There's a case to be made that the attack was a False-Flag incident, orchestrated by both Israel and the Johnson Administration, with President Lyndon B Johnson being personally involved.
To this day, 56 years after the attack (currently June 2023 as of this posting), there has been no Congressional, or Senatorial investigations into what happened... the only investigations were controlled by the Pentagon, the CIA, the White House, and Israel held an "Inquiry" as well.
There is still, to this day, a LOT of still-classified and redacted documents and materials, regarding what happened, with little chance of them being made public anytime in the near future.
The crew of the U.S.S. Liberty, and their families, deserve better than this.
The American public deserve better than this.
Releasing the truth about what happened wouldn't have any effect on current US-Israeli relations.
No-one's asking for Sanctions... or to start a war... or even for anyone to be arrested (most involved in any decision making back then would have likely passed on by now).
What the Liberty's survivors and their families want, is recognition of the facts and truth of what truly happened that day.
