Lost history of 1935's Canadian Heavyweight Boxing Champion recovered.
I set out to make a video for my family about my Great-Uncle, Jack Dane, who was my Grandfather's older brother, Canadian Heavyweight Champion in 1935, and a contender for the World's Heavyweight title at the time.
My Great-Uncle Jim, my Grandfather's twin-brother, years ago had given me a bunch of newspaper clippings from my Great-Uncle Jack's fights, and while researching to do this video, I discovered just how important those newspaper clippings had become to Canadian Boxing history.
Back in 1931, Jack Dane was like Canada's version of Mike Tyson, coming out of the gates in his first 14 fights going 14-0, with 11 knockouts in the first 3 rounds!
A chapter in Canadian Boxing history, once lost, has now been brought to light... with a new quest to restore my Great-Uncle, Jack Dane, to his rightful place alongside the Canadian greats in boxing history.
