I was drawn to the Chapala Malecón today by the rhythmic drums seeking to evoke the human heartbeat. It was an intentional effort to “elevate spiritual awareness and conjure vibes to unite earth’s inhabitants” according to an article in the Guadalajara Reporter.
This indigenous ceremony was led by Guadalajara’s Casa Lagan 1000 Tambores drum tribe and Exiquio Santiago Cruz, the Mezcala village elder.
I wish I had known ahead of time the importance of attending with drinking water, seeds and flowers 💐 for the offering, or noise-making instruments such as drums🥁 🪘or rattles🪇.
These are the things I love about living in a Pueblo of Mexico 🇲🇽. Living here allows me to become immersed in their culture and values.
I am the co-facilitator along with Sunya Folayan of Jumpstart Your SOULjourn. She and I were encouraged after attending the ExodUS Summit 2021 hosted by Stephanie Perry and Rashida Dowe to create a soft landing here in the lakeside Chapala and Guadalajara Jalisco Mexico region.
We are hosting our first Jumpstart Your SOULjourn women’s retreat at the Garden of Dreams in Ajijic, Jalisco Mexico.
