Can Black women find community, belonging and a softer life in Lake Chapala, Mexico?
After hearing Lake Chapala described as an unsuitable destination for Black women hoping to escape harsh winters and predominantly white environments, I knew another perspective needed to b shared.
I have lived in the Lake Chapala area since 2021, and in this LIVE conversation, I’m sharing my firsthand experience as a Black woman living abroad in Chapala, Jalisco. We’ll discuss the growing Black community, Lakeside’s international population, the he year-round climate, Mexican culture, social connections, and what women should consider before relocating or retiring in Mexico.
Lake Chapala may ot be the right destination for every Black women-but no single opinion should make that decision for all of us.
