I am hopeful of a better growing year on the veg plot. Although I want to follow a "No Dig" approach I felt I needed to dig the ground over to remove some plastic and debris from the soil, Also I have invasive roots from nearby tree's which left unchecked could well deplete the nutrients from the growing beds. I have no choice but to dig at the moment.
The backsaver spade does speed up digging but only where the soil is good, it doesn't work well on heavy clay in my opinion.
