Join the Wide Open Design crew as we head to Adventure Off-Road Park in Tennessee for a day of trail riding, rock crawling, and testing several brand-new customer builds.
This trip brought together customers from across the country, including Matt Ryan from California, Jeremy Knight from Kentucky, and Richard McIntosh with his freshly completed FJ-40. The weather was perfect, the trails were challenging, and the new rigs performed exactly as they should.
There's no better way to shake down a new build than spending a full day on the rocks with good friends and great trails.
Adventure Off-Road Park continues to be one of our favorite Tennessee destinations for testing vehicles, building friendships, and creating memories that last long after the ride is over.
Thanks to everyone who joined us. Welcome to the Wide Open family.

![How to Calculate Spring Rates Without a Scale - Wide Open Design
Trying to figure out the correct spring rates for your buggy or rock crawler? In this video, Adam breaks down a simple method for calculating spring rates at home without:
* corner scales
* suspension software
* complicated geometry math
All you need is:
* your shocks installed
* one pair of springs
* a tape measure
* some simple calculations
We cover:
* spring compression measurements
* supported vehicle weight
* dual-rate spring setups
* crossover adjustment nuts
* ride height calculations
* shock travel setup
* spring stacker charts
Perfect for:
* rock crawlers
* Ultra4 cars
* race bouncers
* Jeeps
* custom tube chassis builds
Formula(s) to get Stacked Spring Rate Chart Number:
1. Spring Length - Compressed Length = X
2. X times Spring Rate = Y
3. Y divided by Inches Collapsed at Ride Height

Calculating the correct spring rate for your coilovers is one of the most daunting tasks for any builder, but it doesnt have to be. In this masterclass, the Wide Open Design team reveals a failsafe method to determine your rates without ever needing a set of expensive scales [00:51]. We start by installing a single mock-up spring (usually a 150lb rate) to measure the actual weight the shock is supporting [05:56]. By measuring how much that spring compresses under the vehicles weight [07:17], we can calculate the exact poundage—eliminating the need to worry about complex mounting angles or trailing arm leverage [08:02]. We then show you how to use our Spring Stacker Chart to select the perfect secondary spring to achieve your desired ride height and dual-rate performance [09:00]. Stop guessing and start engineering your suspension for the trail.

![GM Dana 60 Front End Outer Kit: The Complete 6-Bolt Solution - Wide Open Design
In this video, Adam Woodlee walks through:
• proper assembly order
• GM vs Ford spindle differences
• spindle nut preload setup
• brake bracket installation
• wheel hub assembly
• dowel-pin keeper system

If youre building a Kingpin Dana 60 front axle for a Chevrolet, you know that sourcing all the individual outer components can be a massive headache. In this technical walkthrough, the Wide Open Design team shows you our GM Dana 60 Outer Kit, designed specifically for the Chevy 6-bolt spindle pattern [00:14]. We’ve curated everything you need—from the spindle and wheel hubs to the 3/4-ton brake brackets and rotors—so you dont have to spend hours hunting for compatible parts [00:21]. We demonstrate the correct assembly sequence, showing why the spindle always goes on first for a Chevy build [01:27], followed by the brake bracket and the wheel hub assembly [01:35]. This kit even includes the spindle nuts with a dowl-pin keeper system, ensuring your wheel bearing preload stays exactly where you set it [02:51].
The goal was simple: make Dana 60 front-end assembly easy, reliable, and completely straightforward.
The WOD GM Dana 60 Front End Outer Kit includes:
• GM Dana 60 spindle
• Wheel hub assembly
• Bearings & races
• Brake brackets
• 3/4-ton brake rotors
• Calipers
• Wheel studs
• Spindle nuts
• Dowel-pin locking keeper system
• Necessary hardware
Designed for:
• Chevrolet Kingpin Dana 60 axles
• 6-bolt spindle pattern knuckles
