The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker is our daughter's favourite game, and, having played it close to a hundred thousand times with her now, we've begun to realise just how dark and sinister this game is underneath the hood. Baked into its core gameplay mechanic, the titular Wind Waker, is a design that reminds the player at all turns of their own unimportance in a world where the gods either don't care or actively hate mortals.
So that's fun.
This is the latest in our ongoing series, A Link to the Plot, in which we look at how each Zelda game's unique gameplay mechanic informs its story.
In this case, the power to move the wind (and, therefore, the frustration of constantly being buffeted by the wind and blown off-course) has inspired a story about how the world is out to get Link. The weather, and by extention, pretty much everything both above and below the Great Sea, exist to make Link's life more difficult, and unlike other Zelda protagonists, this Link has to work twice as hard to gain any kind of advantage over his enemies.
The moral of the story, weirdly, is that the real way to thrive and get your way in a world ruled by uncaring gods is to hustle for coin. Get rich or die trying.
What a weird message for what is generally thought of as the most child-friendly Zelda game!

![Why BOTW Link is Right-Handed [Advent Calendar #10]
Links dominant hand is one of those weird issues that gets way more attention from the developers of the Legend of Zelda game than, say, his gender. Eiji Aonuma can give a detailed explanation behind why Breath of the Wild Link uses his right hand for sword swinging, but when asked about a female player character in the series, he insists that Link has to be a boy but doesnt exactly show his working.
Sorry. He insists that Zelda is a boy. Still tempted to do that video at some point this month, just to annoy people, but Im fighting the urge thus far.
Anyway, heres where things stand on the first eve of Hannukah: the Game Awards are taking place in about an hour and twenty minutes, but I will be asleep because were in the UK and parents and I need my beauty sleep (I *really* need my beauty sleep).
Everyones currently hoping that we get to see a bit of Breath of the Wild 2 at some point during the awards ceremony. I really hope we do. Pro tip: the more actual gameplay footage you see, the closer the game is to completion. If we get a cinematic, that means that BOTW 2 is still several years away from completion.
If we dont see anything at all, then dont expect it to debut until the Switch 2, if ever.
Anyways, Happy Hannukah, well see you tomorrow.

![Why the Among Us Airship Took So Long To Make [Fixed]
Yes, its another video about Among Us. Cut us some slack, its been a slow news week, the Airship map is the only relatively recent new thing to make a video on, and were tired because our daughter is home from school every day for the Easter holidays.
The Airship map is the ultimate Among Us Easter Egg, filled with Henry Stickmin references that are designed to delight longtime InnerSloth fans and confuse everybody else.
With such a large new level, it was inevitable that actually creating the Airship was going to take a while, but behind the scenes, a lot of chaos made things even slower. Lengthy business meetings, the challenges of finding new employees for the tiny studio, plus negotiating with lawyers over fake Among Us merchandise all contributed to the delay in getting this games new map finished.
So in case youve ever wondered how much effort it takes to build a video game, bear this in mind: it takes more than you think, and its exhausting.
