Over the past century, commercial aviation has shaped Canada into the country that it is today, and often times, pieces of that history can be found in what might seem like the most unlikely of places.
On the northwest shore of Lake Superior, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is exactly that - this former Air Canada Douglas DC-9!

The northern village of Puvirnituq is one of the largest settlements in Quebecs Nunavik region, and sits just above the 60th parallel.
Its home to an airport with a 6,000+ foot runway, making it one of the few airports in the region able to accommodate a 737. That runway though is made of gravel, and so only the 737-200s with a gravel kit can actually use it.
With direct scheduled flights to Montreal, that makes Puvirnituq one of the more relatively accessible places to see a 737-200 in its element.
I found myself there back in April on my way home from Kuujjuaq, and managed to capture one of Air Inuits 737-200s operating an all-cargo flight to and from Montreal. Enjoy this gravel runway action!

The Hawker Siddeley HS 748 is a British turboprop airliner designed in the late 1950s, and was developed as a 40-48 seat replacement for the DC-3.
As a result, it was built to be a simple and rugged aircraft that could land on unpaved runways and haul north of 12,000 pounds of cargo at a time.
A few of these still fly in Northern Ontario, and with only 5 of these planes total flying in Canada, this is one of the rarest aircraft types in the country.
So, for @MarkBrandonAviation and I, it was worth making another trip to Timmins, Ontario just to see Air Creebecs two HS 748s in action!
