Just got back from New Orleans, where I've been working on a story about one of the most unique parks I've ever been to: the New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park.
Unlike many parks within the NPS, this park doesn't rely on historic buildings, locations, or battlefields to interpret the history it protects. It relies on the energy and feeling of jazz music itself that is infused into the very soul of New Orleans to bring this park to life.
There was only one way for me to tell this story, and that didn't include me sitting in front of a camera some facts and figures for you. Rather, I threw myself into the crucible of New Orleans jazz culture in order to find out what this park was REALLY all about - and in the process radically changed my opinion of what a park can be.
I hope you enjoy it. There's so much love and passion for jazz in New Orleans and I wanted to try and convey that the best I could. A small slice of that passion went into the making of this video and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
