Aeroponics is a popular technique for small hydroponic growers, but many commercial growers face a challenge when it comes clogging. (For more free videos, check out Upstart University and start your free trial today! university.upstartfarmers.com/limited-trial/?ref=43)

Clogging is an issue that every grower deals with on some scale, so why is it such a problem in aeroponics?

Well, in aeroponics, the solution is sprayed directly onto the root and the fine root hairs. Because root hairs are delicate, very small droplets are required. This means using fine nozzles, which are more susceptible to clogging.

When an aeroponic dripper clogs, plants might go without solution until it is fixed. While other systems might retain a bit of moisture to tide the plant over until it is fixed, aeroponic setups often leave the plan vulnerable to temperature swings and dry roots.

Aeroponic growers have to have sophisticated filtration systems or pay the price in clogged drippers.
