Many K-pop fans admire their favorite idols and groups and devour gossip daily. Yet there is a point when it becomes too much and it’s obsessive. A lot of K-pop tabloids and gossip are misleading, not factual, and has no substance behind them.
While K-pop is growing more especially in the West, the genre is still stuck in its gossipy, K-pop idol worship roots. K-pop hasn’t really matured since it emerged onto Western shores in the late 2000s.
For me, that’s sucks to admit, especially when you compare K-pop to other popular forms of media, such as anime, movies, gaming, and esports.
Let’s break down why K-pop idol worship and gossip is hurting K-pop in the long run.
